One day in AlUla is tight, but you can still see the two things most people come for. The trick is to start early and not try to do everything.

Morning — Hegra

Book the earliest Hegra tour of the day. The light is soft, the air is cool, and you will beat the midday heat. Allow roughly half a day including transfers.

Midday — rest & the Old Town edge

Break for lunch and a rest through the hottest hours. If you have energy, wander the edge of the restored Old Town while it is quiet.

Late afternoon — Old Town & a sunset

Return to the Old Town as the light drops — mud-brick lanes and the citadel view are best late in the day. If you can, drive to Elephant Rock for sunset to end on the desert.

What you will miss

One day leaves no time for Gharameel, a balloon ride, Dadan/Jabal Ikmah, or a proper desert night. If those appeal, give yourself a second day — see the full 2-day itinerary.

Frequently asked
Is one day enough for AlUla?

It is enough for the two headline experiences — Hegra and the Old Town — but you will miss the desert sites. Two days is much better if you can manage it.

Can I see Hegra and Elephant Rock in one day?

Yes, if you take an early Hegra tour and keep the late afternoon free for Elephant Rock at sunset.
