AlUla feels remote, but reaching it is straightforward — most travellers fly. Here are the realistic options.
By air (what most people do)
AlUla International Airport (code ULH) sits about 35 km from the Old Town, with direct domestic flights from Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. Flight time from Riyadh or Jeddah is roughly 1.5–2 hours. Book ahead in high season; schedules thin out in summer.

By road
- From Riyadh: roughly 1,000 km, an 8–10 hour drive. A long haul most visitors skip in favour of flying.
- From Jeddah / Medina: Medina is the closest major city by road (around 3–4 hours), which makes a Medina–AlUla combination popular for road trips.
Getting from the airport & around
Arrange a rental car or a private transfer at the airport — sites are spread across the valley and you will want your own wheels. Once you know how you are arriving, plan the days with AlUla in 2 days.
